I was born in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatskiy city located in the most eastern part of Russia (near Japan and Alaska). When I was six years old, my family moved to Velikiy Novgorod. At high school I took a course of advanced maths. Graduated from Elementary musical school, my specialization was piano. At University, I studied journalism. As a student, I successfully started a journalist career at the local TV as a host, editor and reporter. At the same time, I created my musical project Kira Lao.

After graduation from University, I moved to Moscow. I went to school of cultural journalism. Then I worked as a social media manager in the Russian Inform Agency, and later as an editor of promotional videos on TV Channel Moscow-24. In 2015, I left my journalistic career and enrolled into Rodchenko School of Art, very modern and unique for Russia. There I had developed new interests: modern dance, performance. For a couple of years, I have been working as a composer in theatre.

I created this project at the age of 19 years during my period of living Velikiy Novgorod. At first, I was exploring the bounds of musical genres. I decided to mix elements of trip-hop and folk and invited a beatboxer, a cellist, and a psaltery player to perform with me. My debut LP with that group was published on the Artemy Troitskiy' label «Voshod» in 2011. Then we won the Sergey Kuryokhin Award — nomination «Etno-Mechanica». I moved to Moscow and the sound of the project moved too, it transformed to rock. With a new group, I recorded few EPs, got positive feedback from musical critics, played on several different musical festivals including Picnic Afisha and opened the concert of Blonde Redhead in Russia. But after the LP release «The Water», the project was put on hiatus. This year I have reanimated Kira Lao in a new form.
